FASHION ME A NEW NORMAL
Wet blanket, this novel corona. Shut ins, lock downs, distancing, serves us cold turkey.

We mask to ward off viral attacks.
Birthday song our hand washing guide  for children.

Elbows bounce, and hugs must be virtual. What a world this new normal fashions.

You look and look and finally she is ripe like an orange ready for juicing.The moon full in the night sky waiting for the shadows of witches brooms to ride
While low down below goblins stalk the night rapping on doorknobs shiny in  the light of pumpkins and garish smiles

STILL CARRY YOUR SMILE - A FOLD
Team 'Super Heroes' is called to wear the mask,
Covering our lips but never once our hearts;
We are ready, willing, able to take on the task;
Covering our noses remembering smell of roses,
Carrying smiles though called to wear the mask;
In pain of pandemic the art of learning chalks,
Hand washing songs for a simple multitask,
On a world wide stage of greatest grievance;
Who is watching, who will applaud this masque?
Will there be standing ovations at the end
Of our performance? called to wear the mask.

[Me in my backyard before going to church, yesterday]

I went to church yesterday wearing my mask, ooh very strange.
Good Morning friends of Monday WRites. What's your Monday like so far? Last weekend all churches were reopened again here in T&T, with the easing of lockdown in phases. Now beaches and gyms have reopened. Schools are still closed

Traditional writing – on a shining topic!

A HAIBUN STYLED READING NOVEMBER 2019
Maybe i was born to tell stories, a little griot in my own right. Whom am i kidding, maybe not. Reading bedtime stories has been part of the narrative in my parenting journey and my son the younger of my two children also wanted to hear another one. Ah but that is a long time ago. I am now grandmother to the sweetest seven year old girl.

Boys and girls they enter the library with fresh faces and eager eyes, brought by their teacher who cautions them to behave. All seated, I take red shinny baubles and some tinsel out of a plastic bag. And with poetic license lie to them, telling them they will not be transported to storyland unless and until each one of them tell me the first thing that comes to mind.

This is indeed a shining moment. Everyone is relaxed and the fun begins. Its story time. Each chapter of the book 'Anansi An Unusual Experience 'starts with a haiku poem. It is one of the books i have written for children. A chapter book targeting ages 5 to 11. We agree to do the reading one person hidden from view of the children reading the introductory haiku and myself in front view of the children reading the story text. A haibun style reading.

STEPPING OUT IN FAITH
Hers was a slip of the tongue;
What she really wanted to articulate,
Was the way her mind had sung,
That day not so long ago at the gate,
To her new normal lifestyle adventure,
Que sera sera,
Who knew this day would come.

Prosery: Maya Angelou
Challenged to use the seven words
[his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream]
From Maya Angelou's poem Caged Bird in a prose writing of not more than 144words

❧✿❧

The beautiful flower moon arrived early. Birds were still nesting in their hushed roosts. She was round and full, super bright at the cusp of day and night. She had traversed gazillion of stars in her eating frenzy. She was sated now.

Will there be rain to add to the tears of an earth pining under the burden of pandemic charges?

Who knew as she waned, as morning stretched awake, that her slumber behind azure curtains light and gossamer like spider weaves, would lead to a night of quarantined madness, as ominous clouds dared to hide her brillance.

And below, in a sleepy little cottage in the woods, the hermit, as he wakes in a cold sweat, his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream

QUADRILLE CLOSED
Sign on the door says 'Closed,'
Maybe, too early would have been better.

People need to wear face masks,
Is this a bar? Shouldn't they be open though?

The early bird catches the fattest worm, but
Doors in this pandemic have no worm quality.

YEAR END FOLD
Another door is closing,
This time, twenty nineteen
Cannot venture back in,
Except of course, by way of
Memories; a door is closing
A new decade is upon us
This can only be reassuring
If we are ready, are we ready?
Anything at door jamb stopping
This closure must be removed,
Indeed another door is closing.

Christmas for me this year was Morning mass, coffee, fruit smoothie (i had had the start of a root canal procedure on 19th December so i was having soups and other such liquid foods not chewing and taking meds). WhatS App greetings, The start of my Twelve day of Christmas 2019-2020 at my blog Lunch Break and The start of my Facebook event Gifts of haiku for Baby Jesus 2019-2020. I had lunch (since my med finished on Christmas Eve i had a little wine and had some solid soft things so i chewed) with my daughter at her place we exchange gifts and chatted and looked at TV then back home. We spoke on the phone but, i haven't seen my son and my granddaughter yet for the season.
