It was much more than sitting,

Much more than applauding,

So much more than an evening

Out to see them dancing.

So much more than bodies twisting,

More than engaging

In those fine stories unfolding,

To the attention of a spellbound audience,

Much more.

 Rumpus Quadrille

What a rumpus, boys fighting on

the floor,

I looked but i'd never seen them before,

Where did they come from? two naughty boys,

Disturbing the peace, upsetting our joys;

They rolled then rumpus-thumped

Out the door,

I swear! i'd never seen them before.

 Don't jibber jabber,

It's World Steelpan Day,

Send a greeting,

Beat a pan,

This musical instrument,

Is here to stay.

Listen to some steelpan music

I know you will like it.

Dance, dance, dance, it's good exercise;

It's World Steelpan Day,

Don't jibber jabber.

 Memories

Saltfish accras were a breakfast treat

I'd sit on a kitchen stool to eat

Shuurr the sound of falling into oil

Hot enough to fry or boil

Food and fancy are still

The taste memories never at will

Let go of her cooking

 This Apple

Honestly, if i eat this apple,

My love will appear right here,

In front of me;

Like syrup of maple,

Our kisses can span the rigors of time,

Like clouds under azure sky

Like ripples over ocean skin

Live Anthony and Cleopatra

Honestly! Honestly!

[Sunrise by Monet from Google]
And The Sunrise Was Good
Each sunrise magic of sky
Unfolds hope in newness
Licsence to create what
Yesterday never had even
If routine set the pace of
Dark night passed on

Sunrise is expected and mundane
Yet awesome in all its ways
The calling out again and again

 Tangle - Quadrille

Untangle this,

If you should miss

The opportunity,  to

See groups of two

Colours, their strands

Relating where you stand,

Then the better to see

You, my dear can be

Drinking soup from a bowl,

Red as your dear soul,

Aflamed with filial love.

 Who Alters

Who alters the skies

To form sleep time

To form wake time

The Great God of it all

Who alters that rain

Should cool too hot sunny days

Only the Great God of all

I've hear of him

Seen his power

Seen his wonders.

Praying Hands’ (1508) by Albrecht Dürer courtesy, dVerse poetry pub

 A Heartfelt Prayer

Engrave your whistles morning birds,

So every clock is useless,

And let me awake to your hirds,

For dawn is always more or less,

That invitation to all the words,

Spoken from the a sunless,

Sky waiting for when moon,

Vanishes behind cloud curds.

Yesterday it was Children's Carnival Sunday along The WesternMain Road here in St James Trinidad ðŸ‡¹ðŸ‡¹

 Quadrille Indigo

The Western Main Road is abuzz,

Onlookers dance to soca music,

The children in costume frolic

Under azure sky, where layered

Cumulus, puff up like cotton candy

 In the afternoon sky;

Here comes a masquerader

His indigo motifs resonate his

 Dancing  in blue sneakers.

BANG Quadrille

Christmas bells chime for me

Golden on my Christmas tree

With a ho ho ho and he he he

A holiday season oh so merry

Santa will drop by with a bang

Who will set the corn a-popping

Making loud sounds in the kitchen

But When

The dawn sky in chameleon mood,

Glints silver- grey, pale orange, or pink,

Sometimes, the moon smiles at me

Through a cloudless blanket.

And happiness floods my being,

Coffee becomes the cherry on top.

But when;

My granddaughter comes to my house,

Joy follows.

 Vampire quadrille

insatiable to warmth and life,

monsters of night bringing strife,

for their cold rapport no sunlight,

only discord to warrant fright,

a click of fangs,

to soothe their pangs,

these bloodthirsty beings of dark,

even the ravens will cry out, hark!

beware the night!

 Quadrille - Spin

Come now children sit thee in a circle

I'll spin a yarn, yes i'll tell a tale

No one will leave until i say crick crack

And the story ends.

Tales of dounes and silk cotton trees

And spiders spinning their very finest web

[Bing created image]

 Swing low

Oh morning shadow

Still on early bend of dawn.

In nearby forest maybe little fawn

Might rise from bended

Sleep now ended

Some trees are wide awake

For daybreak's sake

Now birds will twitter

And a child in her knicker

Will yawn

The circus is coming

She will be going

What better event to enjoy

Now school vacation is here

Tickets already bought

Expectations riding high

Therre'll be lions and tigers

And rings of fire

The clowns will certainly

Do their summersaults

The circus is coming

One Light

There is just one light

in  morning's sky, silent

With clouds the colour of charcoal,

And a breeze cooling as melon;

Find me a space here,

tucked into the silence,

I will stay a little longer;

Waiting for at least,

One bird to sing.

Dance of Unicorns and Dragons: a quadrille

To desire or not;

That is the conundrum

Of tomorrow's figment,oft

Stored there in fantasy.

For flights of unicorns and dragons,

know no woes,

Strangled once in labels

Of madness, few dare to expose.

Still few escape to survive

Reality in another realm.

 Quadrille Dark

Wake up, get up, nudges my muse

I will when the dark recedes,

When birdsong clears morning sky

Even though the waning gibbous moon,

still shines

How is it to the rising east

This morning's cloudscape is so

Ominously dark?

Wake up get up!
