THE MIC PUT DOWN
Our skies, yielding grief
As a soca icon passes on;
 Bidding goodbye in disbelief
All those songs rekindled;
This March sky, yielding grief.
Young and old and in between,
 Remembering a refrain or motif;
He chose to render to his fans,
While building in no way brief,
A legacy, to culture and art form;
Soca, this March, yielding grief.

 No bondage is worse than the hope of happiness.’– Carlos Fuentes, Diana: The Goddess Who Hunts Alone, Bloomsbury, 1995

 HOPE BONDAGED

 Then let us never be free;

Of not knowing, yet hoping for,

Blue skies, even though every tree,

Is felled by an angry wind;

Too unkind.  Let us never be free,

Of the wish of sunflowers

 Blooming in every heart, key

To the door of peace and stability;

When greed ravishes the sea,

Big fish swallowing the small

In gulps, let us never be free.

Always, the falling blossoms of sakura holds me in awe. This awe is as a result of virtual viewing. To match this, i have read about this awesome phenomenon via the internet.

My favourite reading, is a
fable about a girl named Sakura and a tree called Yohiro (hope), it tells the story of a true love that never ends.  read more here

Long story made short. A fairy turns Yohiro into a man giving his a destined span of life. He sees Sakura, helps her carry water to her house. They continue to meet, fall in love and Yohiro tells her the truth about himself.

At the appointed time he turns back into the lonely tree that he was originally. Sakura hugs the tree telling him she loved him. The fairy grants her the wish of merging them together and the tree blossomed for the first time and every spring thereafter.

DESTINED

There are lots of things to be done

Only on a sultry day like

 Today

When sunshine hiding behind clouds

So thick and fluffy like cotton

Candy

My mouth waters from desire

Not only for sky but for life

Gifted

Blessed grace to all of us folk

Awake this precious tomorrow

Again

I saw curved moon in morning light

And pondered waxing and waning

Habits

Let alone mood swings depression

Emotions of joy and delight

Ever

The cautions of life to carry

Continuing on a journey

Destined

To an everlasting sphere where

Time and space need not have cause of

Worry

KIS KA DEE KIS KA DEE BIRD SONG I LOVE

 First light with pigeons cooing

Soon Kiskadees will add songs

To paint a morning so alluring

One can only whisper tiny prayers

Such is dawn with pigeons cooing

Little nuisance to start the day

Those pigeons and their crapping

What a mess they leave on eaves

I much prefer kiskadees singing

In azure skies their name

Morning's coming with pigeons cooing

PAPER TRANSFORMS
In days of yore
The pen was mightier
Than the sword
Steady fingers
Dipped quill into ink
Formed furies
On paper parchment
Or whatever else held
Words content
Come the era
Of taps and clicks
Paper transforms virtual
A graphic design
On a screen.

 Near her hat

She sat

The girl

With a cat

On her lap

Taking a nap

She can swirl

And then tap

Her cell phone

She got on loan

Her paper curl

She had to earn

With scissors and glue

And a few

Loose screws from an earl

She knew

Clouds had always held a fascination for me. It became a natural pastime, looking up. From the window of a bus, window of a taxi, and that early morning; looking down from the aeroplane window. Seems windows always held clouds just for me.

So how then after he abandoned me, those clouds still held their magic? I should have be annoyed with all things so flirtatious.  And so it was that “I wandered lonely as a cloud” steeped in longing, questioning my worth.

But no, those clouds drew me in, to a new sense of being. And years later hope opened its window to me, the beginning a new lesson in life. Lesson learned: I was always being loved by a higher thought. Worded by a higher command. That really i was never alone. How i love those giant puffy cumulus in azure sky.

FROM DARKEST VOID

Children torpedoed into adulthood

Men leaving wives and children to glean bread

They have to harvest and bake for themselves

The tale of a terror we know as war

This fight for borders this grab for more earth

Even when it cakes another man's boot

It is called hell wrapped in garments of greed

A covetousness risen from darkest void

Recline rescind retreat you worthless force

Back to the realm of never nevermore

 PEACE A CANDY SO SWEET

Dedication whispers to  heart

Steady, punctual, consistent.

Then three voices echo

Lets do this, i think i can, i know i must.

Carve a valentine, shaped for hope of peace and glory

Taste sunlight on  tongue of tomorrow how sweet this treat of peace

"Aye aye" capt'n said the pirate wearing an eye patch.
He had had one too many Caribbean rums that night.
For eying the prize of another he got into a bar fight;
