To The Movies
I guess it was one of those morning where you looked to the paper boy; calling out in the street, the urgency to buy news in print their goal. This early morning scene always made her smile and shake her head. Oh but that morning in particular;
oh but that smile was the last smile
to come upon her face,  for soon after she would have gotten the news of a ship built to last, then sunken; carrying down so many hopes dreams and connections.
And many many years later. The movies would made the day come alive once more.

  1. I like the way you made the Titanic story your own, Gillena! It’s amazing to think that back in 1912 you could only get news from papers – now we know it all immediately.

  2. I can only imagine what it must be like to see a tragedy in your life re-enacted in the movies! Your story captures that "sinking" moment, Gillena.

  6. I like the contrast between getting the news from the paperboy, and then seeing the tragedy later unfold on the big screen.

  8. It would be awful to relive the story again on the screen. You used the line so well in your story of a sad memory.
