Blossom Speak

This year i see the yellow patches on the mountains. I spot the pink infloresence around the Queens Park Savannah and i exclaim as i always do.

We are in Holy Week the week leading up to Easter,  when i think,  every said poui tree on the island would  exclaim here i am in blossom speak.

In your clime you talk about cherry blossoms at the same time here in my clime i speak of poui

  1. I’m not surprised you exclaim when you see blossom, Gillena – I do too! I also crane my head out of the car window to see magnolia, hawthorn and other trees in their blossoms around here. What a great way to describe the season: ‘every said poui tree on the island would exclaim here i am in blossom speak’!

  2. This reminds me of when I worked with a girl from Malaysia and how she saw cherries (the berry) in the same way as we would look upon Mango or another exotic fruit... cherries do need some winter to thrive.

  6. Those of us in warmer climates have so many beautiful blossoms to enjoy! I had to go search poui, and lo and behold! It's what we call tabeuia, such a beatiful tree! A local library has a street lined in alternating pink and yellow ones. So gorgeous!

  7. What a beautiful tree and as I understand it, an iconic tree of Trinidad. I bet no matter how many times you see those blossoms, it's a head turner. Very cool!
