 No bondage is worse than the hope of happiness.’– Carlos Fuentes, Diana: The Goddess Who Hunts Alone, Bloomsbury, 1995

 HOPE BONDAGED

 Then let us never be free;

Of not knowing, yet hoping for,

Blue skies, even though every tree,

Is felled by an angry wind;

Too unkind.  Let us never be free,

Of the wish of sunflowers

 Blooming in every heart, key

To the door of peace and stability;

When greed ravishes the sea,

Big fish swallowing the small

In gulps, let us never be free.

Monday WRites 314

 You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is  Monday WRites  (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites # 314: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.
Ah September and the weather here in T&T brings stormy days. With roofs blown off, flash flooding and trees falling. Yet we cling to hope and resolve. I have chosen yellow as the colour representing hope in my post today.

Let me bring you my yellow groovy,
Better than any boring movie.
Lets dance baby in yellow sunshine,
Today is special to moo, cows, and moonshine.
And with silver linings at dawn,
We shall wrap ourselves warm.
This poem writes itself,
  A magical  elf.

Monday WRites 229

HOPE IN TODAY
When one of those little greetings 'Have a nice day' gets to its target, hope is spread, received accepted realized. Someone's life is made better, someone's day is given brightness. Hope is an energy serum, a feel good drug, a must share potion.

Doesn't help to keep it. It must be shared, it must spread like a wildfire. It must burn into our futures. Not a backward moving mobile, hope shapes tomorrow with first thoughts of goodness. Maya Angelou in her reflection on Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, at the Lincoln Memorial, wrote "The Rock cries out to us today, You may stand upon me, But do not hide your face"

Humankind thrives on its forecast. Hope is very ordinary, not at all presumptuous and thrives on the grandeur of simplicity.' Good Morning' - purposeful, simple, beneficial. There is hope at work. Its a starter, the wheels of well being is set in motion. That's hope at its best.

We are still in January, the year is still young, still new. And we in T&T are in The Season of Carnival. The United States celebrates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr today.

WARM WISHES
A post card of warm wishes:
When wintery winds whirl,
Twirling wan lips to fresco,
Echo of words relinquish their repeat,
Sleep, under blankets of snow ensue;
Few so few, are the leaves of green,
Keen though are firs and pine which seek,
Peaking over vast wastelands of snow;
Grow then, in the warm embers of hearth,
Birth of Springtime as hope to treasure,
Measure of nature is a well planned oath

STAYING AFLOAT
There's a hole in the wall for peeking
At life as it passes by
Some days there be sunshine and roses
Caterpillars looping by
Some days the rainbows fit small puddles
Where paper boats saileth by
After the clouds have had a good cry
Butterflies venture to fly

Monday Writes 74

MORE WINE
They had heard about him,
Those days, who hadn't,
Small town talk, everyone knew,
So there he was,
At the wedding party,
And the wine ran out.

Just like nowadays, no different,
With every strike of terrorism,
Every nail of unkindness,
Scourge of misunderstanding,
Sword of greed out of its scabbard
Our wine of hope runs out.

So his mother, a woman - wise and blessed,
She said
Do whatever he tells you
This puzzled them,
However, alarmed, and confused,
They did,
And the wine flowed.

On reflection, perhaps,
We may still drink of that wine,
Of wedding bliss, of joy,
In celebrating another's happiness,
And in turn making ourselves happy.

Hmmm,
Do whatever he tells you
She said
