BACK THEN - AUGUST

August claimed to its fame

The name August Vacation

Even if schools closed in July

The longest school closing

Following on its heels was

The new school term

Going to a new class

With the smell of new books

The fortunate kids flew to

America, regardless of which state

Back at school they boasted

They went to America

Stay-at-home vacationers

Pelted mangoes, papered books

Spent time in the country by gran

And returned to school fattened

LOOKING UP WAY UP
I look up to blue skies smoking white clouds puffy, to a map of sunlight glistening here, while her sisters weep in torrential monsoon rains.

Is it because the moon dances her way into ripeness that the stars twinkle in delight of cobalt nights and coquettish surrender?

Winsome are dreams of little girls who wait in tiredness for sugar plum fairies. Best they wait instead for charitable tooth fairies who leave small treasures behind.

Daylight greets trees leafy green, even if the rains have left droplets to create tiny rainbows at their edges.

SAY  NOW
 Now however is the time
Time stays still for our words
Words preserve the yesterday
Yesterday contained in a poem

 Poem today sunny and bright
Bright allamandas the hedge adorn
Adorn your syllables to the music
Music the retort of dawn's presence

 Presence of harbingers
Harbingers announcing another day
Day comes with adventure
Adventure far beyond knowing

 Knowing nothing of the future
Future the scientists provoke
Provoke the climate to change
Change and flow we must now

This is Nuts said little granny Moore

A whole bag eaten still he wanted more

She wiped her hands on her apron

Leaving there prints in saffron

And puppy dog made a dash for the door

Today's mosiac 'Masking Up 2022 😊 selfies.

Wearing the mask is now the wearer's choice. From 17th July, the mandate for wearing the mask in public has been removed, here in Trinidad and Tobago. I continue to wear my mask in public and so far wherever i go when i leave home, people are still wearing the mask.

QUADRILLE WRAPThe air is cool. Smoky clouds enwrap a moon,  one of  the larger ones. The kind you look at and wonder how come the night lamp is there and you never noticed it.

FEATHERED CHOREOGRAPHY

There they stood

She in her white lace and he

In his suit of endless eyes

Both had their beauty tamed

Tucked away as they pecked

At bowls of feed

We glanced at them

Waiting for arrogant displays

But we got none of that

They were hungry so it seemed

Or maybe in a peckish mood

So we lost interest in them

But further along the path

Under a big shady tree

Another male he alone

Would fill our request for awe

This peacock fanned out

His endless eyed feathered display

And we stood rivited and watched him
