We are at The Olympics: Go Team TTO

Mosaic Monday: #140: Lost for Words
AND
REFLECTION
She stops to drink,
Her animal tongue lapping the sweetness
Of clear running water,
Thirsty after a lively tryst with her sibling cubs,
She knows nothing of reflection,
Sated, she stops,
peering into the likeness,
Stream of consciousness
weaves a tale of a sibling.

Consciousness seems to be the favored stream out here on the poetic trail. I have wondered how animals regard a reflection. But I'm still struggling with the notion that most of them do not perceive reality in color.

Love this, and I'm especially struck by:
ReplyDelete"She knows nothing of reflection"
I often wish I knew nothing of reflection as far as mirrors go, and was free to just go about my business without so much thought to self. Oh, to just enjoy the forward momentum of that stream...

It is true Gillena! It takes an unrelated event to bring one back to reality following a quarrel. Wonderful write, Ma'am!

This is incredibly potent, I can truly visualize the scene as she stops to peer into the likeness. Beautifully composed, Gillena 💝💝

I will carry the concept of animals looking at their reflections in streams with me a bit ... had never considered that they did. Cheers, Gillena.

I sometimes wonder what animals think. Their intelligence is different from ours.
