Green Face Man
Succesfully as a belt for whooping,
Was 'de green face man'
Parent-wielding myth,
All about the town at night,
Was he a supposedly frightful sight,
A calypsonian sang:
"De greenface man is all about
De devil in de town so hush you mouth."

A to Z of The Funnies

A witty thought just winged in

Better not to share it

Cause you might not think it funny

Delivery is so important

Even when it's stand up at

Five and dime stores

Garden parties or elsewhere

Hone your sport

Intent on entertaining

Jocular bites will only taste

Kosher if that pinch of jest

Lingers long after narrated

Mind you it can be short

Neither risque nor bawdy

Often tasteless content

Perturbes the listener to a yawn

Quietly think things through

Recite  it in monologue

Surely its okay

To bore oneself

Until a masterpiece

Ventures in on

Wings of creativity

Xerox a few copies

Yours can start with

Zeus on the mountain resides

[Bing AI Iimage]

Heat Tableau

Why is it today?

my entire  soul,

being a-ruffle,

as the rain leaves us,

to scorch and to burn.

victim of climate

changing its wary

ways; hotter than hot,

rainier than wet

days, of yesteryears.

the noisy fan whirrs,

i scribe words to soothe

my new discomfort,

of climate days changed,

and yet still changing,

oh what a challenge.

Unfailing Mercy

Every flower as it unfurls,

Is a sign of,

God's love for us as it unfolds,

With each new day;

Every bow arranged in colour

After the rain

Spanning the sky from cloud to cloud

Adds a promise

Of God's mercy unfailing, and

Redeeming grace.
