STAY
Amaryllis, snipped from her pride of place,
Bunched artfully amongst hyacinths blue, ace
With careful meter to woo the heart of a beloved;
There at his bedside, a task determined,
Never to let darkness of unmeasured days
Falter to silence, least he slip into nether land ways;
Oh! but stay pretty please, stay awake my beloved in sleep,
Stay to dreams realized in quiet harmony of welcomed keep.
That length of days may weather our love and sweet our kisses
Be, ever the flavour of life, burning at the edge of years to verses
