SO NOW
So now; it has come to this.
A waltz of days,
All the feelings, all the passion, all the yearning,
A crumbled toss into inert melody,
With fragrance still longing for
Lingering beauty of years,
Plucked in courtship,
Fossilized in what was,
No more thought to what will be.
So now, it's all the memories, beauty can fathom.

Monday WRites 176

[I shape filtered one of my 2012 Maracas beach photo for today's post]

FEET BARE
Sun rays tickling straw hat, feet bare in the sand
Wrap wishes in ocean song, send to horizons all.
Down by the sea, where drift woods sail on a wand,
Magic of wonder is only a vast canvas of rhythms.
Mermaids flip beneath, jealous of feet bare in the sand.
Bucket after bucket castles rise, then yield to the waves.
Day dream after daydream walk the course, hand in hand.
A swell of inbreath salty, and sweet as carefree footsteps,
Press stenciled imprints, temporary as a breeze o'er the land.
Hush, noise of busy days, listen wild heart to wandering tides.
And, just follow the meanderings, of feet bare in the sand.

YE OLE CINEMA REELS
Pit; they shouted and swore,
Too much, times some more.

House; heads leaned on shoulders,
Every now and then, whispers.

Balcony; turned up noses,
At House and Pit, holy roses!

Yuck! retreating darkness from;
Chewing gum,

Stretching from your soul,
Oops! i mean, sole.

Monday WRites 175

For today's mosaic, I refurbished an oldie, photo and water colour painting.

FACADE
Yellow leaves fall, its not Autumn;
Seemingly she's unhappy alone,
Now that silence dragnets a hum,
To one teacup of tea at her table,
Whispers, can smirk its not Autumn;
Yet she, drawn to her canvas creative;
Applies colours in hues of stylish rhythm,
Knowing not when reds and golds merge,
In tune with wind's dropping sarcasm,
Rain claims season of floods and storms.
A facade, it never was, its not Autumn.

STILL BALANCING BIRD SONGS
Remember those days, when we went to market?
The vendors put the sweet potatoes,
In one plate of the scale,
And then placed the weights,
On the other plate of the scale.
A little swing. A little adjusting.
Either take some of the sweet potatoes out,
Or some of the weights out.
Hmm, those skills of adjusting;
Which balance behooves of us?
When we juggled quantities,
Oranges one, then two, then three,
Now add a fourth all in the air,
Pitting gravity's pull,
Against the deftness of our minds?
We are now the modern day scale-people.
Place two sweet potatoes. Note it. Bag it. Tag it.
No wavering of weights.
No waverings of measures.
No crucial deciding choices of
One more or less to either sides of the plate.
We take home the sweet potatoes
Without one ounce of struggle.
Did we foresee the coming of complacency?
In our weights and measures.
The unrequited resolve of unnecessary balance?

All the while, sky juggles,
Her birds songs from varied coloured feathers.
And, oceans still carry;
One more seashell tossed to the sand of time
Taking in waves
A drag back of its measure of sand
According to the whim of its tide.

#October

October’s birthstone is OPAL Asian cultures believe it to be a gem of hope. Aborigines of Australia believe opal was left behind by an ancestor as a sign of his or her presence. Opal as a gift is said to mean faithfulness and confidence.

In Trinidad and Tobago, Calypso History Month is October.

In the old Roman calendars, October was the eight month of the year and got its name from the word Octo meaning eight.

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” ― L. M. Montgomery in her book Anne of Green Gables

Monday WRites 173

Within a hundred days of Christmas, well actually 92 days from Dec 25, I thought this would be a good time to post a mosaic of my Children's books. They are all written by me and available from online stores as well as the publisher Authorhouse.

HERE ARE THE OPENING LINES FROM EACH BOOK
A little seed shifted in his soil. "Let us ask Wind to save us." [The Little Seed And His Brother 2015]

These were hot days, very hot days. [Third Planet From The Sun 2017]
