Monday WRites 285

Last of my Carnival Past mosaics for 2021

It's Carnival Monday here in Trinidad and Tobago, jouvert (dirty mas)  starts the adult street parades, however this pandemic year 2021 was quiet compared. The Carnival Season ends tomorrow. Though the spirit and vibe is present, the pandemic prevents crowd activities.  The music did  keep us in the mood and the new normal fostered all sorts of creatives: virtuals fetes, workshops,  and talk shops and look backs through the carnival archives and virtual competitions.

You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites #285: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

Prosery: The Song of Wandering Aengus
Prompted to use the Lines, in a prose not more than 144 words long.
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head

A FAIRY AFIRE
Nine hazel trees waved in the sun hot breeze. Fish in the pond jumped and frolicked below, in the shade of windswept boughs.

Who knows whether they were Salmon or Tilapia, as the report goes, they were fish. Fish who thought their sanctuary sacred. So much so, they lived peacefully among lazy caiman which ate their weight of water hyacinths in said dreamy haven.

Till one day, a fire fairy wandered in from the next glen. She was so broken, her whole being ached from the longing for her unfaithful lover.

She sat under one hazel, head bowed, wings drooping, cradling  sorrow. This was  too much for her to bear. Before she exploded into a million tiny fiery bits headed toward the sun, she heard her own heart speak: "I went out to the hazel wood, Because a fire was in my head"

Quadrille #98 – Peelings, Nothing More…

THE SPECTATORS SAY
More and more inhibitions are peeled from the masquerade
Leaving costumed spirits
Free to dangle beads and strings,
Entities kicking up dust in the theater of international players
This is carnival scaled down
Drones of rhythms,
Meeting spaces of bodies gyrating to sun rays

Monday WRites 194

WHEN THE CHILDREN PARADE
Here comes morning carrying her jug of sunlight
Here comes the twittering birds oh such a delight
The songs they sing of beauty and of colour
The tales they tell each one to the other

A rainbow in the sky adds her smile
Clouds are cousins their hugs span for miles
Something's in the preparation pot
Something's in the brewing oh so hot

Stripes of a zebra stamped black and white
And a lion may decide to be a kite
All this is possible fun is here too
And trucks full of music are there too

Here comes the Sunday of Carnival
Happily toting its boys and gals

IN GLORIOUS SUNSHINE
For sake of fun
Out came Sun
Shining in splendor
Young smiles render
Treasured aplomb to pomp
Happy feet stomp
To pertinent music brand
Signature of our Land
Always the mothers add
Last minute glad
And the fathers too
Fix intricate headpiece or two

SEASON CARNIVAL
These Carnival alive days, words prompt: whine,
Waist hip and bum[per]
Stickers, tag pace of revellers to
Word of rhythm. Airwaves
Allure eardrums. Perchance, street stepping
Does not your appeal hold. Of course one
Can always steal away to
Beach resorts from city munitions.

THE VIBE
There is in reflection, sweet solace
Keyboard tapping days past, to legacy

Words trace a hisory of rthymn spent
Costumed in street-parade's thematic scheme

Each pause thinking deeper going further
Way back to Blue Devil Jab Jab Mondays

And clouds smudged in rainbow Tuesdays
Ah but now, that Carnival vibe is over.
