 Vampire quadrille

insatiable to warmth and life,

monsters of night bringing strife,

for their cold rapport no sunlight,

only discord to warrant fright,

a click of fangs,

to soothe their pangs,

these bloodthirsty beings of dark,

even the ravens will cry out, hark!

beware the night!

  1. Love the flow of rhythm and rhyme in your poetry, Gillena, and especially these vivid, unsettling phrasings of "these bloodthirsty beings of dark": "click of fangs" and "cold rapport" -- all hit the spot.

  6. I loved the line "even the ravens will cry out, hark!" and the warning to "beware the night" that sums up the whole poem.

  15. Even in the warmth of Caribbean nights there must be vampires, "real" or metaphorical - well conjured, Gillena...
