Monday WRites 263

[Mosaic 1 today sweeping muggy fallen leaves and blossom from the plumeria. We 🇹🇹 are in The Rainy Season, and even if if it doesn't rain at night, still in the morning i have to sweep away the dew damp muggy leaves and blossoms]

NEW NORMAL NIGHTS
Lockdown days; they crave even more, bedtime stories. Eyes bright as they cuddle next to mom or dad. Who would have thought games like: In a fine castle, Jump rope, Moral, Cricket and Football would be virtual tests of hand speeds on keyboards. This is new age plight of our children. They are weary now from staring at the computer. Sharing apples and oranges in math classes. Yet still they can yawn at the story stop - the end, and tucked tenderly into bed they drift into dreamland.

Hopefully forgetting the dragons in the virtual combats and instead, the age old stories of cows and spoons and a big bright moon create their night fantasies, when In their dreams, they sleep with the moon.

  7. I so much like that in the dreams they are still there with the moon and the cow... wonderful and sweet.

  8. A lovely, sweet take on the prompt. Children still crave stories and tucking in, and hopefully have dreams of the moon.

  9. I’d like to think that children will grow weary of staring at computers and turn again to bedtime stories, the old oral storytelling that existed for centuries. I love the image of children yawning and being tucked tenderly into bed to dream of ’cows and spoons and a big bright moon’. I used to love 'Hey didle-diddle'.

  18. Gillena - at the beginning of the pandemic, I am sure that all of us enjoyed doing things we didn't previously have time to do. But too much of a good thing brings boredom, especially for kids! Spot on writing! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and please feel free to send some of your rain our way!

  20. This makes me think of a colleague at work who was convinced his son was a genius, even if he was a zero at school, because he was so good at video games...
