Monday WRites 219

THERE BESIDE THE SEA
A walk along the beach; sound of waves reaching for the sand, there, alone, in coolness of your thoughts, with the smell of the sea in your hair, and the roughness of sand between your toes, the appetite for toast and eggs scrambled may grip you, holding you to a promise of repast. You may taste the hunger in that child you were once, never to be again, when those fried bakes your mother called you to table with, brought a swift presence.
The sea does that to a person. There in vast expanse watching coconut trees lean however-which-way the wind wills. Bossy is the best way to describe the wind. Breezes; cajoling, zephyrs: fanciful.
Ah! but when in playful tease, it caresses your cheek, and you smile with the morning, you know inwardly, you will love again the stranger who was your self.

  14. I enjoy stories set beside the sea, Gillena, and this one took me to that beach. I love the way you describe the wind as bossy and how the breeze caresses your cheek. Child or adult, the sea teaches us things about ourselves.

  17. Your mosaic and words about the seashore are beautiful Gillena. I lived most of my life by the Atlantic Ocean so I also have many fond memories of the beach. Now I look up at mountains, which are also inspiring.
One inspirational quote I like is " Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door shallbe opened to you." Matthew 7:7

  21. Gillena - of all the things I have read from you, I think this is my favorite. You have really captured the essence of the beach, and of the line "You will love again the stranger who was your self". Truly beautiful writing. For my inspirational quote, I offer this: "Kindness is in our power, even when fondness is not." Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
