Monday WRites 67

APPLE TALES
Sing ye song to morning dew
Come watch as wind dances too
Mountains which clouds sit upon
Reverent do these stalwarts don
Their garb of ages yet to view
And men to auger history anew
For never was the blood of life
A thing scorned to give us strife
Let there be breath to twitter in
Pulses good and joyful spin
Where harmony her courses serve
Sumptuous feasts of garden curve
Yet he that could not speak a word
Received to wit such crafty sword
Rose to fathom a gift of deceit
Prompted by an envious conceit
His own unscrupulous ploy to add
Oh sorrow sorrow within, now had.

While one is prevented from breathing a word it is good to discover of other's intentions of wanting to cheat. One just can't be sure!

  5. It is not so easy to write in rhyming couplets but you have sustained the scheme throughout, and made such relevant commentary in these lines.

  7. Gillena - Love this one, the rhyme is just dazzling -- my fave lines:

"Sing ye song to morning dew
Come watch as wind dances too"

"Let there be breath to twitter in
    Pulses good and joyful spin
    Where harmony her courses serve
    Sumptuous feasts of garden curve"

You always serve up sensual play with your words, but perhaps the musicality of this one is why I like it so! Thanks for sharing.

  8. Hi Gillena ~~ I'm enjoying your rhyme.
These two are powerful, and my favorite lines:
"Rose to fathom a gift of deceit
    Prompted by an envious conceit
    "

  9. I like the dancing rhythm – though in the end perhaps not much cause to dance.
