Piercing The Silence
When i heard his shout,
I thought yes, he has returned home,
The bell on the ice cream cart
Tinkled, a hot Sunday afternoon.
Children in the nearby houses
Screamed, running barefooted
Into the dusty country road,
For ice cream, in tubs and on sticks.
Bring me a large plastic bag!
I want to buy some ice cream sticks,
To keep in the fridge,
For when the grand kids come by.

Here it's no shouting and no bells, but a veru anoying melody being played....

You prepared us for the opening lines with the title, Gillena, and then set us up for questions: who is he; why did he shout; and where has he been to return home? A hook indeed. And then atmospheric tinkling of the bell brings us into the summer and the reality of the scene.

So engaging, Gillena! I can picture this scene. Like Björn, we have an ice cream truck with annoying music. Bells sounds much nicer. 💙
