Aroma of a sautee lingers

On night breezes;

Layers of romance lighted

By moon not at all shy.

Peeled away like an onion,

Desire waned, to succumb

To heart's solution;

Of not what is, but ought to be.

Storing your embrace to memories,

I turn from onion

To matryoshka dolls,

Treasuring every sequence.

  1. Desire does throw reality out of the window doesn't it. Sometimes it is the only way to make a dream come true <3

  2. We have a set of matryoshka dolls, I'm not sure if we got them in Moscow or Saint Petersburg. And I don't know where they are right now, Mrs. Jim probably does.
    Nice to turn the thoughts sometimes when things get sticky.

  3. I like that you used the onion layers and the matryoshka dolls, and the heart "as it should be" at the center. Thank you for joining in, Gillena.

  7. I love the use of the sense of smell in the opening stanza, Gillena, and the comparison of the onion to matryoshka dolls.

  9. Love the reflective, nostalgic quality and the matryoshka dolls were an interesting addition to the theme of layering. Very nice, Gillena.
