at sign of peace hands reached out to
clasp and shake a pact of forgiveness
but things were different back then
now even holy water fonts
hold tiny bouquets of floral adornment
instead of water for dipping a blessing

what are hands for the question asks
of a pandemic world gloved
masked and forever searching
the eyes of beholders
seeking answers
in new normal question-dom
