[Georgia O’Keeffe, Yellow House (1917); courtesy dVerse Poets Pub]

That Yellow House

When he had climbed up the stairs

He knew he shouldn't be unawares

Had there been blue skies this early

Then he would have knocked surely

For the fact of the matter

No matter what the weather

This yellow house shone

For moon or for sun

With its garden of flowers

Delighting passersby
