Looking forward to hearing you read this on Saturday. It's such a wonderful mixture of the stories of the garden of Eden and Christmas and the human spirit - and an affirmation of faith.
I look forward to hear it live. Apples are so special and a symbol.... I can also appreciate that it is a fruit that only grows in a bit colder climate so for anyone in the tropics it becomes excotic (for us it would be things like mango)
So enjoyed hearing you read yesterday. Gillena, Even though I am not a believer, both the Garden of Eden story and the many celebrations wrapped up in Christmas are so central to humanity. Loved your scent association of apples with Christmas...
I enjoyed the rhythm of your poem as you read it yesterday. It brought back memories of Christmas apples when I was a young girl in the Philippines. Like you, back in the Philippines, we knew Christmas is coming by the wonderful scent of apples that were suddenly and magically available in fruit stands.
I hope you are ok after that earthquake square. There have been quite many in October alone. Take care. _Imelda
