An Autumn Fold
What have i heard of Autumn?
Leaves fall, they bare the trees.
What is this Season's anthem?
Colours! brown, orange, red, and
Yellows too; i 've heard of Autumn.
Some poets mourn, some celebrate;
Meeker morns are a humdrum,
But the berry’s cheek is plumper,
Don't lose hope, or hit rock bottom,
Though now the rose is out of town,
Ah, the sentiments i've heard of Autumn

NOTE
Lines 7, 8, and 10 contain words from Emily Dickinson
“The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry’s cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.”

Lovey poem. I like the perspective from someone who doesn't experience the autumn seaons like others.

You may not have autumn in your part of the world, Gillena, but you are familiar with it from the poetic community to write a n original autumn fold. You are so right, ‘some poets mourn, some celebrate’, and the ‘berry’s cheek is plumper’. Nice one!

Autumn being only something you have read about, just like the tropics I have never truly experienced.

Love how you incorporated Emily Dickinson's words and created this lovely autumn poem. That's the beauty of being a poet; we can write about things we have not experienced. ❤️
