 NEVER PROMISED

Since a rose garden was never promised,

There shouldn't  be a regret in the set.

Which of us two should remain the calmest,

In rondelet where our lips first met?

A word spoken loosely by the psalmist,

Sweeps paradise from our table's fete.

How suddenly clear sky can turn to mist!

What is bargained for is not what we get!

There must have been rules poemed to this tryst.

Spread the dewdrops over morning, oh let

The waning moon, her waxing which we missed,

Go gently into sanctuary; wet

With tears of a beloved's gone to list.

 The misunderstanding of romance bet.

  4. I like your use of poetic terms here, Gillena. The romance of poetry contrasts really nicely with the mess we can make of our love lives! It's not like you to write something sad, though.
