DECEMBER JOY - A FOLD

A sigh of relief October all over

Oh winds of September you were unkind

You messed up my roof and left for another

How then can i say i love thee most

I sigh with relief October all over

Surely my February wines and dazzles me

Still the love of December will never be over

For did he not come on strain of angel songs

Joy of a baby in a manger laid under cover

A saviour not for one but for all to remember

December comes quickly October all over

##NOTE: I have used the phrase '    October all over ' as my fold repeat in this poem. It is from a rhyme i know as a child regarding the hurricane season.

##NOTE 2.:The hurricane climatology adage “June: too soon; July: stand by; August: come they must; September: remember; October: all over” is a hoary chestnut that glibly elides risks at the beginning and end of the season.[from the internet]

##NOTE3: This 2020 September did really mess up my roof and left me with leaks

  1. Hurricane season in the Dominican Republic runs from June to November. August and September were usually the roughest months, and things would start to calm down a bit in October--the month we would start getting ready to celebrate our dead. That might explain what I've never heard that super interesting nursery rhyme.

    Happy Wednesday, Gillena!

  3. Thank you for the "October all over" explanation. It's interesting to have a "season" for natural disasters, but then, I hear "fire season" where I live.

  5. The weather does try to keep to our expectations but she does tend to get a bit muddled at times wondering what treat to give us each month.

  9. The thought that we have almost completed 2020 is sobering given everything we have dealt with ... we survived three hurricanes in 2004 in central Florida, never want to go thru that again, living in central Oregon now I must deal with the threat of wildfires.

  15. October comes all too soon this year, and already our nights are chilly. The full moon is beautiful --- and this month we have two, with a blue moon, so this is a special October.
