Monday WRites 237

I don’t know why I was surprised every time love started or ended. The world as we know it is strong, tangible, intangible, disruptive, loving, kind and so much more.

A new era of invisibility is stalking and wrecking havoc over the Planet Earth we love. What we cannot see can make us sick.
Social distancing is the new event happening across the globe. A world marathon of waves, winks, and smiles.

What a global catastrophe. The air we breathe can rid us of those grand old ones in our midst. Imagine a world sans grandma and grandpa. Not a happy scenario at all.

No wars no weapons yet, we are forced out of our places of worship. Wash your hands, no hugging, no handshaking: we are parented by new mother media caution.

The new challenge across borders, COVID 19.
Psst don't panic!

  1. Hi--I think this is more than 144 words. We're writing flash fiction for this prompt that cannot exceed 144 words.

  5. "mother media caution" is a good way of putting it. just like that, our lives have been turned topsy turvy. Hoping it leaves as quickly as it arrived.

  10. Gillena - I am praying that if we pay the price now, we will reap the rewards more quickly. Who would have thought even a week ago that we would be told not to go to Mass? Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

  12. I like the way you describe our current situation, Gillena, as a ‘world marathon of waves, winks, and smiles’. But how awful to imaging ‘a world sans grandma and grandpa’. I’m so glad I got to hug my grandson last week.

  25. It is indeed a very sad state of affairs. We must do what we need to for safety of ourselves and others, while striving to resist fear and maintain compassion. How fortunate that these days we can remain so easily in contact with our friends and loved ones through social media, so do not need to experience true isolation.

  26. Well done Gillena. Once when there was a catastrophe we would all stick together but today we fight over toilet rolls and pasta in the supermarkets aisles. What worthless creatures we have become.

  29. It's gotten to be a sad world, hasn't it. Public enemy number one couldn't have shut our countries, the whole world, down any quicker or more efficient gently.
I liked your greetings, "waves, winks, and smiles," the last, two of my most used flirting gifts. Saved is the wink, I sort of know when that works. The older one gets the more appreciated of the wink.

  31. A lot of houses of worship are going virtual. When I picked my son up from Pittsburgh the couple I was staying with "attended" synagogue services by watching along as it streamed live.
