SISTER TREE
She is creation's cup
holding all nourishment
pouring all wealth

She who blossoms
grows and matures
with the word of creation
written on her hip

She straddles life
trees are symbols of her
eternal spirit

Sister tree
providing shade
in sun and rain
fortess of hope
in generations

MOO IN THE MOON
Mr Moon's a shape shifter his wife will tell you
She tries to tame her mister, oh but all in vain
He likes to be round and also not so much
So cows can gaze and jump from their graze
And little dogs in amusement have a good chuckle

  5. I liked the idea of the tree being a fortress of hope, which it is of course. It is sad to think of all those thousands of seeds; all possible trees each year trying to find a home, humans still reduce their numbers through their greed and blind to the fact trees existence assures us of ours.

  7. Sooo nice Gillena, the poem and of course, always the tree. One of the first poems I memorized was Joyce Kilmer's "A Tree". The second was surely a fun read.
