Monday WRites 109

SENTINELS
as rain sneaked in
charcoal grey of nighttime
silent sentinel Poui
drank to their full and then
they burst into bloom splendor

  2. I was thinking Poui was a Hawaiian Goddess making fireworks but then I looked it up and saw the lightening hit the tree.

  5. I live the picture of those sentinels. Steel Behemoths. I Googled "poui" and found it to be a yeiioe flowering Caribbean spreading tree sized bush. Is it considered to be a Caribbean dirty, I noted the capitalization?
