SWAY
held between posts of rigidity,
grey areas of frieze meet fear
unlike the dancer's stance, swaying to,and fro;
stretched to a frizzled tension
neither a leaf fell nor a flower bloomed
in the dreaded zone of extreme indecision

jumped into the cold emerald of the ocean
a splash of pearled water awakened the soul

  1. Caught in the zone of extreme indecision.. I know I can relate to that. I like the images of the beautiful dancers, and the refreshing ocean.

  2. I love these lines: "neither a leaf fell nor a flower bloomed
    in the dreaded zone of extreme indecision "---that zone is almost worse than making the wrong decision.....sometimes the relief that comes from finally making a decision, even the wrong one, is sometimes so welcome that one doesn't even care that it was the wrong decision!!

  3. Sometimes it's only when we decide that we fall... i think I would be in extreme indecision and just linger... lovely take.

  4. The way you have written this, the play of alliteration and flow of the verse, allows me to be a part of that sway. Beautiful.

  6. Dancing on fences is tough business for the soul. Thank goodness for those "splash[es] of pearled water" that remind us where to go (and perhaps why). ♥

  8. Well done. And I really like the sound of this, of "dancer's stance" "frieze" and "frizzled". This would be great read aloud.
