Monday WRites 261

[Mosaic 1: Independence greeting, i am making face masks to give as gifts, & a red ixora bloom from my garden]

BOOK CLUB DAYS
Book club days, days of talk of stories read. And too, so much more to these sessions. Birthday cakes and birthday songs, even those who thought they couldn't sing would join in.

Food fashioned after stories read, muffins, pelau, sandwiches juices, wine. All these foods finding their platters at our meeting table.

And then those days we leave the meeting room to socialize a bit. Walks, rainforest trips, hikes, all bringing us together as we fashion our own stories that we may look back on.

Monday WRites 260

[today's Mosaic: leaf of caladium, ixora flowers red and yellow and spider lily leaves and flowers]

CORONA APOLOGIA
What a bummer
This novel corona stunner

Shush-ing planet earth with mouth and nose gear
Calling us super heroes if we wear

Our mask of Covid 19 protocol

Maybe there was just soo much name calling
And too much cussing

We are sorry Ma!

Our churches have been lock down again. The SEA exam for children 11 plus was held last week - not as virtual exercise but a physical event, though schools are still locked down. we are still battling to flatten the curve.

Monday WRites 259

[In today's mosaic 2 words and neem leaves]

NEW WORLD BEHIND THE MASK
Bared lips ruby red and for the daring, dark shades easing into black. They showed their souls when they stared, angrily, cheerfully, tentatively.

This was the world of the western patterns, wild women who stood up to everything. Were there a cause, their uncoverd lips spewed criticism.

Clearly audibly words left their lips.; like the singing of psalms, sometimes reverently. When it is over said and done, it was a time and there was never enough of it.

It all happened so quickly though, the muffled voices behind the masks. The necessary cordorning of space. A sentence of worldwide meter. Man women and child speaking now behind the mask.

A PIROUGE - FOLD
The pirogue, sped across the water;
Vacations are like that, gliding
Hours, fleeting minutes, and after
The memories, you looking back;
To the pirogue, sped across the water.
Crossing, to go to the quaint little town,
Shopping for souvenirs, sorta
Like stamped names on everything,
Must follow you home, to better
Say, i went shopping in St Georges Grenada,
Where, the pirogue sped across the water.

Monday WRites 258

[In today's mosaic: 2 words and abstract art]

GARDEN QUADRILLE
Pinks and yellows of ixoras, little fairy umbrellas, open to moon beams and sun rays.

Fake straitions of peacock gingers, on whose leaves, marks of proud statements say.

How many furls, will a bougainville bract, need to hide her tiny tiny white blossoms away.

Monday WRites 257

[In today's mosaic: 3 words for 3 days of August and some Ixoras]

There were candles in a cellophane pack on the table, tiny candles in different colours. The plastic forks were still in their clear plastic package, as well. Busy hands were adding paper plates and cups, well really glasses around the square table. Another get together. Another day of book club meeting. The cake was frosted blue. A blue cake ! That was the repeated remark as persons filed in. Some with silent smiles, some with good mornings. The table looked sumptuous. Pies and sandwiches bottles of wine bottles of water and such like. I remember someone remarked whether this was a brunch club or a reading club. Laughter was the best answer on that day
