[a Karin Gustafson drawing]

a bawling mouth, they met

it was the very first time
she held a baby in her arms

here was a miracle
cradled in a smell of newness
suckling sweetly

A Glance at Narrative

Karin shared some of her art and asked us to choose one and write a narrative, I chose the image above and wrote a Cherita - Malay word for “story” or “tale”.

ROSE BUDS AND DEW
There among the misty clouds,
In that place of dreams,
Where travelers slip through,
Depths of vision and waver

Then again,
You were, for real, who knew but me and you,
Our first? meeting -

There you were breaking my ♥ heart,
For the first time,
May be even once 💕 hearts ,
Ought to be broken.
All of first gifts are given
From the same cloud

There you are ever first,
To remain in my love,
Steadfast: as dream, reality, better half,
Better still, my first everything that ever matters.

Monday WRites 116

WHERE WORDS TRANSPORT
After checks and scans from security,
Welcoming doors test reading savvy,
Here; In is in and Out is out,
Of this there is no doubt

Climbing stairs not your delight?
Elevators will surly suffice,
Oh! but the coffee shop,
Skip in first and then go up

So many authors, affix a name
To hopes and dreams now ours to claim,
Lining shelf after shelf,
Passions and foibles give of itself,
So all the world could dream dreams,
Visiting faraway places in this scheme

And outside, an assemble of pannists,
There to give of their grandest,
A free concert will draw many,
Hips to sway on any given day.

Weekend Mini Challenge: Buildings
Kim who likes the way in which Philip Larkin’s poem The Building conveys the physical appearance and atmosphere of a hospital without once using the term ‘hospital’, through the use of certain words and connotations; has challenged us to write a new similar poem

[Phantom of the Opera Venetian Masquerade Mask from google dot com]

FOUR MOVEMENTS _ MASK
I
The mask shows
It tells
There's never the lie

II
A sinister power dared to show
The mask of soul allowed to agent

For too small is ego
And too large is spirit

Yet mask of go-between
Perfect in its application

III
Spa day, we peel and daub
In doll house feminine
Transforming stress to dust of dust

IV
Bigger than the phoenix
The fire risen in depths
Of passion
The phantom and the dance of life
Plays on

MOSAIC BLUES
She wanders amongst lonely clouds,
Her shoes are prime stilleto blue,
A postcard away from gathering crowds,
Of this she is all for nought too new,

Even should a bird pause to listen,
Narry a song will be given to morning
Though sunlight to dew will glisten
Still to moon drops she be clinging.

MERGE
I
there's magic in my kitchen

as two sets of colours
food colours merge

the child understands
the merging delights her
another colour mix

II
this immersing and flowing

there is no loss
only merging [return]ing

maybe a return
to that oneness
that already was
