The word “advent” is derived from the Latin word “adventus”, which means “coming” – which refers to the coming of Christ.

The advent wreath;  an evergreen wreath with four candles, sometimes with a fifth, white candle in the center.
Some Advent wreaths include a fifth, Christ candle which is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day

The four candles of Advent represent the four Sundays of Advent, and they respectively symbolize hope, peace, joy, and love.

The third candle is pink and symbolizes joy. It is called the “Shepard's Candle,” and is pink because rose is a liturgical color for joy.

Did you see the reindeer in the far right  bottom corner? ๐Ÿ˜Š

Living in the Caribbean, a hot area, there is no winter or snow.

Yet our liturgical expressions contain all the coldness of winter that traditionally have been ascribed to Christmas.

And those who have never heard of Santa and his reindeers; must be from another planet

We as children first and as adults have only to imagine and accept.it all.

That's not so bad even, for here longing sets in, and in the end many of us travel to fulfill our dreams.

[Well maybe not to the North Pole though๐Ÿ˜Š]

 Let It Snow

Her mummy read the story to her.

She listened wrapped in the wonder of snow.

It sounded like so much fun.

Oh yes! she wanted to go on vacation.

To spend Christmas

With her cousins in America.

[I do hope it snows, said gramma.]

Starless Night Ponder

Night performs her haunting echoes

She is neither shy nor unwilling

Yet she is holding back her shine

There are no stars out tonight

Not even a Bethlehem guiding light

Who can fathom the depths of desire

When not even a blink from heaven

Strays into the thought of face

Looking upward hoping to hear of

Stars watching lowly humans below

Why is life moaning under a weight

Of contours, of borders, of delineations?

Who will spill a jar of watercolour

Wet on wet without care of spaces

Only shapes misting on smudgy

Areas to suffice

Challenge today: is to choose a piece of instrumental music (no songs,
but I am happy for you to choose a piece of jazz or instrumental rock if you don’t
like classical music) that speaks to you, and write a poem either about the piece,
including information about its composer and content,
or whatever it conjures in your head.
If possible, add a link to the piece of music.
Here is a selection of poems about music:

The Magic of My First Snow

Where was i? I was at my sister's home. I had flown across oceans so at that time,  I was on vacation in New York. So back then, I was where i am.

When the snow began, she called me to the door. The door was slightly ajar. And there it was. My very first time, my very first snowflakes

For me this was oh so amazing. I stood at the doorway spellbound.
