SPAWN
swing children sway,
sway for the rhythm of chantwell,
chantwell words from the mouth,
mouth of griots, souls of the landed,
landed here in new sounds,
sounds to mourn the loss of mother land;
mother land expands, to birth fresh voices,
voices of rapso, shaping this identity,
this identity of third world cultures,
third world cultures of first class music,
music of steel bands, and kaiso singers,
kaiso singers: telling, telling, telling of,
telling of ancients, and spawn of futures
