SCALLOP DREAMS

I am not yet a butterfly having the agenda

To scallop through gardens blooming;

Nor the spirit to lightly skip through pollen

On a breakfast menu of morning glories;

What if the wind should rip a wing

When i emerge delicate,

from my chrysalis of darkness and bliss;

Asleep to the wonders of pain and joy

Unknownst to clouds on a bright sunny day;

Cumulus clouds puffy and white

Wistful and alluring to the drama

Of a meadow unkempt

Of grasses waving below

We are in the Season of Lent. The Carnival Season is over. A more sober mood of fasting and penitence prevails.
You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites #286: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

Going…Going…Gone Poeming
{Quadrille #122}

GOING QUADRILLE
Who goes to the seaside to gather coal?
I never would have imagined your days gone cold,
had i not ventured in holiday mode,
Once and once again to my dear sister's abode
Who goes to the seaside to gather coal. Nobody  i know🙃

It's Carnival Monday here in Trinidad and Tobago, jouvert (dirty mas)  starts the adult street parades, however this pandemic year 2021 was quiet compared. The Carnival Season ends tomorrow. Though the spirit and vibe is present, the pandemic prevents crowd activities.  The music did  keep us in the mood and the new normal fostered all sorts of creatives: virtuals fetes, workshops,  and talk shops and look backs through the carnival archives and virtual competitions.

AND
Prosery: The Song of Wandering Aengus
Prompted to use the Lines, in a prose not more than 144 words long.
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head

A FAIRY AFIRE
Nine hazel trees waved in the sun hot breeze. Fish in the pond jumped and frolicked below, in the shade of windswept boughs.

Who knows whether they were Salmon or Tilapia, as the report goes, they were fish. Fish who thought their sanctuary sacred. So much so, they lived peacefully among lazy caiman which ate their weight of water hyacinths in said dreamy haven.

Till one day, a fire fairy wandered in from the next glen. She was so broken, her whole being ached from the longing for her unfaithful lover.

She sat under one hazel, head bowed, wings drooping, cradling  sorrow. This was  too much for her to bear. Before she exploded into a million tiny fiery bits headed toward the sun, she heard her own heart speak: "I went out to the hazel wood, Because a fire was in my head"

DAWN: AN EMBRACE
You embrace with bird songs
New dawn, every grain of hope.
Your sunlight gently caresses
My mind, with mysteries of today.
How will i ever exist without
Your cloud hugs?
Soft and puffy
Like sweet cotton candy at a fair
With ferris wheel rides.

AND

today's challenge to write a haibun that references the Eagle

Visits to the zoo hold the sway of monkeys tails coiled around whatever support they find entertaining.
Don' t feed the monkeys your peanuts or anything else. That was a caution worth the while to be heeded to children
The birds of coskel colouered wings and beaks triggered a little bit of envy, if you were walking around in school uniform blues, hair braided and ribboned.
Eagles, hmm no eagles, but i remember aligators of the scheming eyes even when asleep

their strength of span and grip -
always amazing
