Monday WRites 169

In today's mosaic: My granddaughter - in Scarlet Ibis Costume last year; at nursery school. The birds are from a google search]

SCARLET IBIS AND COCRICO
Scarlet Ibis is dancing in the carnival parade,
She lives on the island of Trinidad.
Surely, little Cocrico, is dancing too,
On the island of Tobago.
In their costumes; homemade,
And they are both glad.
For when, costumes they take off; ringtone!
They can say to each other - Hello!
Over-the-seas; via cell phone.

Good Monday folks. four days away from Independence day [31st August] i thought, why not present our National Birds today in mosaic and poem.
Scarlet Ibis and Cocrico are The National Birds of Trinidad and Tobago. Both birds are featured on the Coat of Arms of Trinidad and Tobago, and are protected by law.
The Scarlet Ibis occurs in Trinidad; it is brown when young, it's colour changes to red when it is mature. The Cocrico; not found in Trinidad, is the only game bird on the island of Tobago, is referred to as the Tobago Pheasant.
