[art of Alma Thomas]
Focus - a Fold poem
Since today her focus is spot on,Camera clicks, a memory frozen,
When her child was born
Back then she didn't own a camera ;
Not so now, her focus is spot on,
Time must bow at her feet
So swiftly yesterday is gone
With sunshine brightly at day then
Moon in her shapely goings on
Allows the stolen light to shine
Freezing time, her focus is spot on,

I love your fold poem, Gillena, enjoyed the recording and look forward to hearing you read it live on Saturday. I like the contrast between a memory before owning a camera and taking a photo. You captured the focus well. These lines stand out for me:
ReplyDelete‘So swiftly yesterday is gone
With sunshine brightly at day then
Moon in her shapely goings on
Allows the stolen light to shine
Freezing time’.
Now that we have digital cameras, there is no limit to the number of pictures we can snap at no apparent cost and yet how much time do we spend looking at the results, how many do we NOT show to family and friends and so I feel the act of taking a photograph is itself, the marking of that which we intend to remember and the creation of a prompt in the event we forget - which I think is what your wonderful fold describes, Gillena...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your fold poem, Gillena, and much so the fact that the form was created by you. Kudos! Will try it sometime, thanks for presenting this form. :)

Focus is indeed spot on. Love the fold poem and the theme of capturing the present time with camera. One of the good things with technology.

A nice write and interesting form to try one day.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this. Thank you for writing to the prompt. Did you read it? I overslept for OLN last time. I hadn't read this, yet I wrote a poem the other day about taking pictures of my children, trying to freeze time.❤
