Thursday 23rd was the 12th anniversary celebration of my book club. After so long not being together it was great to be back...to share a toast, look at our history video and sit with snack plates on our laps😊

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” [George R.R. Martin]
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” [Dr. Seuss]

Welcome to Monday WRites # 355
June, and the rains are here, Goodbye month of June.
You've heard about the Monday Blues ❧✿❧well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
If you have a Monday post at your blog you can share at the linky. There is no prompt. All that's required is that your post is a Monday post
To read is to travel through pages
Discover wonderlands and winter worlds
Leaving a sunny Caribbean in stages
Tip toe or walk through place or time
Wend and wade you travel through pages
Long long ago or far far into the future
Choose your pace breaking all cages
The universe gets smaller fitted to eye span
You can sing though the storm rages
A cup of tea will soothes your aches
And wonderings as you travel through pages

Your poem says what reading is all about for me, Gillena. I love as fortunate to have parents who encouraged me to read and spared me the change to buy books as a kid.

I can't agree more with your poem and the three quotes. My reading club ended unfortunately after ten years activity. The last book we shared was "The Book Thief."

Congratulations to the ladies of your Book Club for enjoying good reading and such good company for all those years... here's to many more. I liked the quotes so much. We have talked often about how we feel sorry for people who don't read. Especially during the time of Covid, I don't know how non-readers stayed sane!! (By the way, I'd love it if you would write someday about what your club is reading.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Sallie
