People leave their homes.
Gravitating to the main street.
Because the music truck beckons.
We hear, pause, and follow to see
The wonder that is carnival.
Colour, design, dance, command the space
That is the street for a few days
Fun under sunny skies

We are in Mardi Gras here in Galvestong, Texas. I used to take students

Its carnival here Jim until midnight Tuesday 21st February then its Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent starts.

I’m not long back from the dentist and your colourful and joyous Pied Piper of Carnival is the first poem to read and comment on this morning, Gillena! I love the music beckoning from the truck, the image of people dancing in the street and ‘fun under sunny skies’, especially as it is overcast and grey here. Thanks for the photos. :)
