Happy month of November to all visiting.
You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites # 326: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

THANKS GIVEN
There is so much to be annoyed about, we remember the hurts so well. Hurts are not wild game that one goes a hunting. More like the unpredictable weather patterns. Some just come storming in. Wetting the plants, the porch, the window curtains. Snatching a bit of roof in rage. No one not even the meteorologist expected that. Well hurt is like that sometimes.
On the other side of the coin, there is the unexpected joys. Did i see that coming? Oh but there is still goodness in the world. Like the drizzle cooling the parched earth. The wildflower pops up which no one ever planted. With its unique colour tones, petal count. stem lengths. And we pause in contemplative gratitude. And Sometimes thank you pops up in a smile not spoken.

Gillena— I read through your lovely woven prose...then happily and rather naively drifted to your haiku........stunned.......incredible....what a haibun! THIS is what haibun is all about.....

What a lovely write, Gillena. So often the moments for which we should be grateful pass by unnoticed. Thank you for reminding us!

I adore this haibun! Hurts like unpredictable weather patterns....joys like drizzle cooling the parched earth. And your haiku at the end is perfect.

Beautifuk, Gillena! One of your best: moving, profound, and efusive with both pathos and gratitude! Brava!

I agree with Frank, this poem really shines. You get to the crux of things effortlessly, and we thank you for it. The Yin/Yang yoo-yoo of life can push us back on our behinds, but it is the contemplation, the introspection that grades it.

I've had sorrel tea before and even wrote a post about it several years ago. Several local gardeners had the right kind of hibiscus to produce the little red flowers (?) and sold them at a farmer's market. I was so happy to see your mosaic.
