WANTON DESTRUCTION SPELLS GRIEF
A learning curve to selfish squander
Cravings and covetousness
Hair grown silver
Dyed golden strands of wrath
Tresses of Rapunzel
Let glory down the chapel stairs one step at a time
Rosary beads, hail the peace of a planet
Dwindling blue in blessedness
Aching in love less ness
Harsh unyielding meals of bombs fried
While sticking devilish forkfuls
Of anguish into the throats of
Screams in no way theatrical
In every way real

[deepest condolences to the people of Paris and of France. In the wake of these terrible attacks]
The Challenge: write for seven minutes uninterrupted. At the end of 7 minutes, Then take that piece or take the place you are in and and use it as a springboard for your poem.
The emotions of this piece are palpable. It is no easy thing to express outrage in metaphoric language but you have done it very well-

The darkness of the world seems to have grown a lot these days... I just hope we see a turn for the better soon.

There is something especially terrible and terrifying about screams in no way theatrical, in every way real--that is a very vivid description, along with the rest of the poem. Thanks for participating, Gillena. K. (Manicddaily)

I also find the lines Karin quoted stand out for me---I think too often these days a spectacle is made out of real disaster and we lose the freshness of our horror--those lines bring it home.

This is so emotive. If only those screams could be from a play we could wake up from...Powerful write!
