[red ixoras from my garden, they luv blazing sunshine]

Happy New Year

The sunlight is really bright. For more than half of the day i stay away from two rooms in the house, even though they have curtained windows.

The sunlight just takes over. Besides being hot the brightness is overwhelming. What the sunlight is really saying is, it's Carnival time.

The music on the radio is hotter, saucier. The parang rythms are stored away for another Christmastime

Dawn sky becomes the artist,
This canvas of depth and shadow,
What is being held,
Between whispers of breath?

Who owns the language,
Of declaration?
When can we hear,
The voice of morning?

The alliances of breeze and
Movement skirts banana fronds,
The dance of unfetted coming
And already here is alarming.

Looking Back

this August rainbow,

remarkable as we were,

different colours,

red blue green yellow saw us,

clad in family,

first get together this way,

generations mixed,

sisters brothers cousins kids,

kids enjoyed the pool,

adults talked and talked on end,

sometimes a rainbow,

arcs to group a family,

both past and present,

yellow for my mom deceased.

[Winter Slumber by. Natacha Chohra from Google]

Bears hibernate, and

People will sleep more

In winter, if you let them,

The snow needs to be shovelled,

The snowman needs a carrot nose,

Snow angels don't just fly in,

There's a lot of work to be done,

So get out of bed!

[a photo i snapped at Long Circular Mall here in St James 2025]

Mall Adorned - Tableau

There's a lot of red,

 Red baubles hung high,

Smaller ones also,

Look up, the ceiling,

Holds them securely,

There for our joy.

The whites inbetween,

A cooling, for eyes

Lured to instant watch,

The gold and silver,

Oh so glamourous,

Christmas at the mall.

 Appliqued to a bice sky,

Cumulus gangs in array,

No rain today,

What a wonderful way,

To venture out,

Buying gifts for,

Christmas time is here.

Don't forget the wrappings,

And the bows.

It would be my first voyage to outerspace. Will it be cold, will it be hot? At this point, i didn't really care. I just wanted some peace in my life

When i looked up to the sky, where birds sing and sail, and aeroplanes glided. I knew i didn't see far enough above me.

The granites and schists of my dark and stubborn country led me to the idea of moving, somewhere far away, somewhere where light filters through every crevasse, somewhere bright where rainbows are picked, like ripe mangos, off trees.
