Hunter's Moon
In the midst of climate change, these incredibly hot days, in the past, October was the cooling down time, a time inspired calypsonian sang about Christmas breezes blow, meaning the cooling nights of October.
But, not so now, its cool only if your AC is on. And, there is no letting up for hot days and cool nights. The equation is now hot days plus hot nights
an October night
watching for the Hunter's moon -
surely it will come

Well, this 24-7 heat has to be the only downside to living in your paradise. Well done, a special haiku.

Oh, I feel you...it has been so hot and humid here and the storms scare me now. Climate change is a monster we cannot tame!

So sad for the lack of any cooling down. We are still waiting for the first frost.

I hope you’re not suffering too much with the heat, Gillena. You’re welcome to our current weather in exchange for some calypsonian songs.

Gillena, it is frightening to think of the heat not dissipating in the evening. I hope the Hunter's Moon comes soon to you. Does the ocean get warm also? I fear evaporation and storms from all of the water in the clouds.
ReplyDeleteWell the heat is on, but i am not near enough to the ocesn to say.

My brothers-&-sister-in-law in Portugal endured triple-digit temperatures all summer. I don't think it has cooled over there that much, even now. Hope you encounter more comfortable temperatures soon, Gillena!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed how your haiku complemented your prose in this haibun.
Thanks for your appreciation, Frank
