New To Snow
In a time of vacation,
When minutes are relaxed,
Appetites surge like ocean waves
Waiting for godot now,
Is never piontless,
He will or he very well may not
Come what may the cold is real
And torrid weather oceans left behind
This is a move northward
Time spent away of comfort
Zone new and foreign
Anticipating snow is relevent
So when the dust of flakes
Fly to my unmittened cupped hand
Through the doorway, wow!

That must be an exciting moment when you’re new to snow, Gillena, and such a difference between your sunny island and the northern chill.
ReplyDeleteGillena, I enjoyed reading of your wonder in snow. Even after all of these years, the first snow of the season always makes me feel that way.
ReplyDeleteA new experience! I get excited when I see palm trees or cactus on vacation :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine living in a land where snow never comes, I came very close to that in Orlando 1998 - 2005. Not that I beg for snow in Central Oregon, but when it comes, it's astoundingly beautiful. I enjoyed reading your poetics poem, Gillena.
