The Present Moment

Another pandemic daybreak. Through the opened door, coolness of a sunrising morning in flushed pink tinged sky. Perfect temperature for back yard exercising. The heaviness of nights cover fading in a distant bird call to morning light. Stillness of the banana fronds obvious in the early halflight. One pigeon without its coo swoops in to perch on the electric wire, sitting there just watching.

It actually sounds comforting with that backyard exercise, but I can also feel that you long for venturing beyond the confinement or your own property.

Many Aprils ago, ikn the big Island of Hawaii, we rented a bungalow, and several banana trees surrounded it. Here in the Pac NW, spitting distance from Canada, bananas only appear imported.

At our old house, I would wake to the "conversation" of crows at their morning meeting. While we have lots of birdsong here in our new home, I miss my crows!

How wonderful to have bananas in your own yard. When we lived in southern Florida, we had a huge avocado tree, papaya and mango - I miss that.

There are so many different times of day that have been captured in this prompt, and I love that you chose daybreak, Gillena, and the ‘coolness of a sunrising morning in flushed pink tinged sky’. I can only imagine waking up to ‘banana fronds… in the early halflight’.
