Monday WRites 113

[fair use: image of Storm from google dot com]

HUSHED TONES
Calm, cocks an ear.
"Shh", she reports
To tremble.

Tree, bird, and fish
Listen with eyes agape
And lips in quivering pout.

"Where is she now?
What is she doing?"

They all cower;
For they know
How mischievous
She can get,
They know her for
Her irate moodiness.

This is why they speak of her
In hushed tones,
Calling her name -
Storm.

  1. Love how you depict the atmosphere before the onset of storm especially; "Tree, bird, and fish listen with eyes agape and lips in quivering pout." Beautifully penned.

I love these opening lines - and it makes me think of here, how suddenly, minutes before a storm, all nature just stops, pauses, all breathing literally dies in the stillness before the break - and I wonder, if it is the same in T&T? I presume yes, atmospheric conditions will out, but then, I'm not sure.

Lovely piece that captures the essences of the moments just before ....

and I hope you had safe passage through ...
