[Joan Miro art, from google.com]
In This Space
With a boom, bang bang, boom;
The Old Year’s gone away;
To nothingness and night i pace
Myself to sleep; to dream, to wander,
For here is where freedom lies;
My fairies, my guardian angels,
My elders all gone before me meet.
To dance, to win battles, to feast,
To question and to promise.

And in this space,
Without the celebratory noise
Trying to mark time into sections -
For really, time only continues -
It is the awakening, leaving the dream,
That cuts through space and time.
Helplessness of tying together time and realms -
Maybe that is why
We created clocks and calendars

  1. We definitely like to mark time into sections as if we can put things into a box and close the lid. Nice palinode.

  2. It is disheartening to have the wonderful and priceless dreams only to have them disappear, helpless to return. Cheers, Gillena.

  3. I love the way you ponder time in your palinode, Gillena. As we get older, we have more of it to mark into sections – and I still lose track of the days!

  6. I love your thoughts on time. What if calendars and clocks were never invented?

  7. Without the calender I would lose count.... but maybe it is the counting that makes us miserable

  10. The Joan Mirro art goes so well with the palinode, Gillena. Both verses offer contrasting moods yet contain an engaging optimism. Well done!
