SHU TWENTY TWENTY - A FOLD
Should be shove out bad ole twenty twenty?
Go! on be on your way,  go! shu shu git,
A year of novel ways,  and sorrows aplenty;
Distances magically widened beyond belief,
Who'll raise a cheer to bad ole twenty twenty?
Now everyone is a superhero, wearing a mask;
Tsk, tsk, a world of sad sameness made so easy;
Coughing and sneezing are things of the past,
So are hugs and kisses, though this might seem petty,
But oh! this is  the way we must strive and survive,
We'll surely remember, this bad ole twenty twenty?

 Last Monday of 2020; a year we will never forget, a year of distancing and loss, sorrow and adjusting. Yet, here we are in the 'Holiday Season' waving our good cheers of a better next year.

You've heard about the Monday Blues well this is Monday WRites (musing on the definition here of rite, as any customary observance for eg the rite of afternoon tea).
Welcome to Monday WRites #278: A Happy Monday to all. Be Safe.

Monday WRites 277

SEASON OF COVID 19  - A FOLD
In a long season of pandemic,
Joy of a Christ child interrupts;
A great comfort this is, no polemic.
Welcome savior, welcome Emmanuel.
For in this long season of pandemic,
We need, more so now, the strength  of love;
And a measure of hope than can merit,
The healing, from a plight that overshadows,
Light of wisdom and survival endemic;
Too long, too long now this season of pandemic.

Quadrille #118: In the Inglenook

MY INGLENOOK
There's neither snow blizzard nor hoar
Yet i seek shelter to be lost and wonder
With my little gifts of dinosaurs
I spend my time in my little corner
Snug in pandemic days with little monsters
In an imagined Inglenook gives me much pleasure
© gillena cox 2020

NOTE:
An inglenook (Modern Scots ingleneuk), or chimney corner, is a recess that adjoins a fireplace. The word comes from ingle, meaning "fireplace" in Old English (from Old Scots or Irish aingeal, "angel" or euphemistically "fire"), and nook.

Some Prosery Cheer
Prompted to include in a bit of prose limited to 144 words this line
Reading what I have just written, I now believe
Louise Gluck, from Faithful and Virtuous Night

BEAUTIFUL MOON
The moon is beautiful a Japanese writer once intimated, to say I love you.
Sitting here, alone in my back yard, watching another rounded moon, i remember
 the times i said that to you, those precious words about our moon, not knowing of its Japanese metaphor.
I feel its presence now, this beautiful moon. Its shapeshifting moodiness and its brilliance are all a part of  me.
Alone, i  look up and somehow i do not feel lonely. A heart that loves feels longing,
But is never lonely.
Reading what I have just written, I now believe.

BLURSDAYS: A SEVENLING

Every Blursday  birds sing at the appointed time

The same tune "wake up to a new day"

Don't these critters know its Blursday

Phase zero of lockdown days

Sun rises, sun sets

Quiet streets rock the sonorous silence

Early hand washing crazy corona days

NOTES
# The ABCD image contains some of the given words i found striking, though i only used Blursday in my poem today.
##While we here in T&T are no longer in  complete LOCKDOWN, Blursday is a reflection of that phase of our dealing with Covid 19.
