MUSEUM
Being fitted for a new look, I once saw her;
iron scaffolding leaned against her,
façade: brushes daubing a brightness to her,
and all the while, she was quietly peeping
through the bustle admiring the flowering
trees in Memorial Park.

Royal. please address her.
The Royal Victoria Institute
(National Museum and Art Gallery)
Port of Spain, Trinidad, that's her.

History lurks within shadows of her
cramped space and labels file her:
amerindian, Cazabon, bones, folklore.
Visiting footsteps and gapes remain within her
adding richness of legacy and heritage to her.

Monday WRites 219

THERE BESIDE THE SEA
A walk along the beach; sound of waves reaching for the sand, there, alone, in coolness of your thoughts, with the smell of the sea in your hair, and the roughness of sand between your toes, the appetite for toast and eggs scrambled may grip you, holding you to a promise of repast. You may taste the hunger in that child you were once, never to be again, when those fried bakes your mother called you to table with, brought a swift presence.
The sea does that to a person. There in vast expanse watching coconut trees lean however-which-way the wind wills. Bossy is the best way to describe the wind. Breezes; cajoling, zephyrs: fanciful.
Ah! but when in playful tease, it caresses your cheek, and you smile with the morning, you know inwardly, you will love again the stranger who was your self.

Monday WRites 218

A PRAYER FOLD
On bended knee is a good place to pray,
In the sanctuary of gratefulness to offer,
Return to original source, breaths of day,
To that God supreme and forever loving.
In humbled plea is a good place to pray,
Seek and in so finding, grow in kindness.
Of all things, great or small, a prayer say;
Ask, and it shall be a well worth given.
At night thy head to a pillow of hope lay.
For sunlight whispers to windows of dawn
The chapel of thanks is a good place to pray.

Do you collect anything? i collect haiku cards sent to me from haiku pals, i collect empty bottles of the perfume i use and i have collected, from when i used to sew for myself, buttons. I used to, as a teenager, collect stamps but i have none of those now. AND OF COURSE HAPPY MEMORIES. Today is the anniversary of my 1971 marriage. You might ask why acknowledge or celebrate, since i have told you before i live alone and i and not widowed. Well it's not complicated at all. I continue to love my husband, i continue to live in our marital home, i continue to be married to him and he continues to be the free spirited man[now much much older] that he is. So dear friends, What do you collect?

A SAFETY FOLD
Doors, window, roofs, silence,
Our safety shields, our barriers.
Keepers, containers from defiance,
Cozy spaces to dwell in our thoughts.
All necessary; caves, roofs, silence.
A wish for all to dwell in peace,
Living without stem of violence.
A caution to winds of rage!
Your being is mere existence.
Helpless our plight, thus we must
Don our hard hats, roofs, silence

Monday WRites 217

[Today's mosaic 'Whats Blooming']

60 years after Sadako Sasaki's death, the story behind Hiroshima's paper cranes is still unfolding
It must be so sad to loose loved ones in such heinous loud uproars, A bombing killing so many innocent lives going about their daily chores unawares, unprotected, unarmed. This is what war does, rips open the souls of so many left to mourn even so many more. Were there flowers blooming then and there? Questions unanswered to this day. Chrysthantemums, peonies, roses. Beautiful little souls hoping one day to be doctors nurses care givers.

paper cranes will tell
so much no more of sorrow
caused by a bombing
