GAME ON
Spinning in a whirl of possibilities
To land in the web of sway
The fates have given so much power
To a nickel or a dime
A coin tossed to a question of risk
Gravity’s answer - heads or tails

THUS I RISE
How will history remember me?
Will history remember me at all?

As fliting blue tanager, blue jean?
Skittish dove pink footed on a wall?

Anguish of being flown from the nest?
Held in the arms of a loving guiding God?

Where a book-full of faith
Offered teaspoons of solace?

When one rosebud, tight, unopened,
Held the blooming of family - of love?

Now knowing love, must disappointment
Smile her taunts of desertion?

And smiles repay taunts for sake of faith
And again, again, those teaspoons of solace?

But looking forward to history's appeal,
I rise, to offer, a no-regrets-plea.

Just the savour of teaspoons of solace,
From a book-full of faith.

SPICY SORTS
Sometimes, tears are just that, salty reminders.
Like onion rings on chopping boards;
Concentric multi-layered.
Then there are sneezes, when black pepper,
Sprinkles into loneliness, and no one's about
To say gesundheit.
Longing recalls warmly, nutmeg, grated
Into sticky dough, for coconut sweet bread

Monday WRites 124

RAINDROPS ON LEAVES
Howling winds what are they saying
so important
in the face of
morning sunshine

Yon pigeons in the eaves are shushed
not a coo coo
not a shuffle
only silence

Pellets from rain clouds the leaves hold
an offering
from the heavens
just like manna

CLOTHES SOO FINE
They said to him "you look just fine"
He who sort pleasure of boudoir wine
Oh what a mess
For this poor tess
To walk the streets sans clothes a stein

To walk the streets sans clothes a stein
Laughter they pinned to mockery shrine
Pompous to unctous zeal
Emperor clad thus surreal
They said to him "you look just fine"

PEACE SEPTEMBER PEACE!
so peace the night, you winds of woe,
and gently hush you leaves and branches,
no more rustle of the tears in flight,
no more wade the floodgates to dismay,

so hush your howls September sprites,
and dry those tears clouds, lament no more

let peace then hammer nails of repair,
roots to trees be anchors once more,
peace! sweet peace, banish thee nightmare,
let warmth of sun to human hearts endure.

Monday WRites 123

[cool planets 3d graphics mobile wallpaper from google dot com]

E[VER] LIFE?
[plug in part] of the charger gets twisted and breaks off
enough juice left [about 22 %] to start pulling hairs off scalp

then, shameless question to self, via smart brain
was there L[ife] before the cell phone?

all hours of insominia nights tap tapping to the light of
'Farmville Tropic Escape' or 'Fairway Solitaire'

moon fades to missing overused burn of fingers
daylight to come, Cellular Planet to go, fast landing

to the mall, ah the mall! for new charger new juice
was there E[ver] life before the cell phone gaming?

STRANGERS
My feet shod in sneakers
[echo] greeters
I walk in glorious sun
[echo] fun
The door of the kiosk says PUSH
[echo] bush
Song birds poem the sky
[echo] high

He is before me in the queue
[echo] who
I wish his eyes were violet
[echo] triolet

Then I could poem him in colour
[echo] dollar
For his thoughts by and by

Monday WRites 122

[a google dot com image]

BELIEVE IN HIM
Be a good example
Ever speak His holy name
Live in the hope of His promise
Invite Him into your heart
Encourage others to praise
Verily verily He spoke
Each miracle to invoke

Instructing the way of life
No other could have lifted

His cross of Calvary
In Him is forgiveness and mercy
Messiah, anointed one of God

BOOK OF WORDS
A postage stamp, a convenient
Scar of mimicry
Your cool sentiment , all lies

I could return thus postcard
Address unknown
But to stoop to your mimicry

No no I decree more finesse
To starlight and twinkle
And my forever happy heart

Words Count with Mama Zen
Challenged to write a new poem from a given list of words: "mimicry, testament, rapture, cool, dachshund, cherubim, heretic, infinitesimal, convenient, serendipity" Chose three words from the above list and compose a little bit of brilliance of sixty words or less. Bonus points if you title your poem "Book of Words."

Monday WRites 121

[olive grove near Bethlehem from google dot com]

FAITH ACKNOWLEDGED
A tiny bit of faith abounds into a plenty
That great mass of a tree from a little seed
Began, was once just a reserve entity
Memory for future on going life

Storehouses contain a wealth of important
Items, sources of treasure indeed
Watch the busy bee and the hurry ant
Resourceful in their cause for results rife

The honey is made without being iffy
The drones never ponder what if or when
Without thought of bears, or giant’s fee
Fie foo fom; they do what they are made for

So bees and hurrying ants they build
Using innate ability, their ken
The hives and the ant hills willed
To a future, regardless of ill favor

There is that something within
Which, linked to the vast divine infinite
Will; makes things happen, in
Time, and according to right standard

Like the seed with its allotted germination
Is sprung out of timely respite
Ideas have their span of meditation
Then they grow into the tangible

Because of the inherent faith
That which is yet to materialize
Rises out of the labyrinth
And makes it way to surface

From the deep where in lies essence
Of everything found in every shape and size
On the inside is the vast nuance
The old, the new, the grace

Of renewing and expanding
Replenishing that which was created
For a specific purpose; demanding
Responsibility and obedience in return

Of faith’s reverent acknowledgment
And it minutest sum respected
Only rewards with contentment
Will ever the pursuer earn
