DECEMBER JOY - A FOLD

A sigh of relief October all over

Oh winds of September you were unkind

You messed up my roof and left for another

How then can i say i love thee most

I sigh with relief October all over

Surely my February wines and dazzles me

Still the love of December will never be over

For did he not come on strain of angel songs

Joy of a baby in a manger laid under cover

A saviour not for one but for all to remember

December comes quickly October all over

##NOTE: I have used the phrase '    October all over ' as my fold repeat in this poem. It is from a rhyme i know as a child regarding the hurricane season.

##NOTE 2.:The hurricane climatology adage “June: too soon; July: stand by; August: come they must; September: remember; October: all over” is a hoary chestnut that glibly elides risks at the beginning and end of the season.[from the internet]

##NOTE3: This 2020 September did really mess up my roof and left me with leaks

VATIC VOICE - A FOLD

Surely seasons come and seasons go

Live life with no regret, forever

Looking to a better tomorrow

A moon is blue a moon is bright

Undeniably seasons come and seasons go

For faith for hope the time is now

Bird songs sweet like new day ooh

A time of cloister a healing time

Cultivating tomorrow today we sow

Vatic the voice in silence heeding

Assuredly seasons come and seasons go

Monday WRites 265

[photos from my archive again today, art - a crop from a larger painting using poster paints ]

You look and look and finally she is ripe like an orange ready for juicing. The moon full in the night sky waiting for the shadows of witches brooms to ride
While low down below goblins stalk the night rapping on doorknobs shiny in  the light of pumpkins and garish smiles

a shower of sweets
a half full sack greedy to
 knock on other doors

[Mosaic 1 fruit]

High on a mountain,
arms stretched to the clouds,
i'll sing a song and sing it loud,
for what is a rainbow if not
a box of crayons lost
in the vast space above,
that blue ocean below heaven above
we call a sky

ADIEU - A FOLD
Be it a wave, a sigh, a kiss, a hug
The language of goodbye speaks of faith
In various tongues says my coffee mug
With a spray of flowers and a phoenix
Whether a wave, a sigh, a kiss, a hug
Regret heals, spins a tale of we meet again
To break bread near the milk jug
How has it been, this journeying, hmm
Hot, cold, lovely, painful, warm, snug
As a ladybug on a leaf oh so pretty
Hope too; does a wave, a sigh, a kiss, a hug

Monday WRites 263

[Mosaic 1 today sweeping muggy fallen leaves and blossom from the plumeria. We 🇹🇹 are in The Rainy Season, and even if if it doesn't rain at night, still in the morning i have to sweep away the dew damp muggy leaves and blossoms]

NEW NORMAL NIGHTS
Lockdown days; they crave even more, bedtime stories. Eyes bright as they cuddle next to mom or dad. Who would have thought games like: In a fine castle, Jump rope, Moral, Cricket and Football would be virtual tests of hand speeds on keyboards. This is new age plight of our children. They are weary now from staring at the computer. Sharing apples and oranges in math classes. Yet still they can yawn at the story stop - the end, and tucked tenderly into bed they drift into dreamland.

Hopefully forgetting the dragons in the virtual combats and instead, the age old stories of cows and spoons and a big bright moon create their night fantasies, when In their dreams, they sleep with the moon.

PHOENIX TEARS - FOLD
Is this an omelet breakfast ?
Well of course go ahead then,
Crack those eggs, whisk them fast,
No just sitting there in the fridge,
If it's to be an omelet breakfast
Like the bird from fire and ashes,
Pandemic tears and sorrows last
Never forever, tis our challenge,
This quest of new normal, surely,
For resurrection day must come,
Seems this is an omelet breakfast.

Monday WRites 262

[Mosaic 1 - A painting by my son Khama Cox & some face masks i made last week]

Shh. There's talk of a wave coming,
Should you even care you of the daunting
Refusing to wear your mask
Saying this constraint is such a task
Better that little discomfort
To the choice of going forth
Shh. Are there pigeons in the eaves?

JOY OF REST - A FOLD
Now today, i shall rest in my words
I will lay there slumbering still
A crumb of laziness, like those birds
Perched on branch of hushed sunlight
Latched there, i shall rest in my words
Breathing silence, inhaling oxymorons
Ignoring the cacaphony of a virus, stirred
Like dandelion seeds on whiffs of normalcy
No way shall i dance to anything i have heard
Simmering in flavours of spicy metaphors
Countenance today: i shall rest in my words.
