TIME
I sit on your window sill,
Balanced and composed,
My creation is complete;

I am made of eons and eras,
My belly had digested all,
That there is, was, and will be;

I am free, freer than a bird,
Or fish in the sea;
I move into yesterday,
Coming out of tomorrow;

Would you open your window for me?
We can frolic the throes of existence,
We can unmake history;

Pulling on a string of yarn, we’ll gather up
All that can be; and still be,
Whatever there already is.

  1. We can frolic the throes of existence,
    We can unmake history;

    How wonderful it would be if we could go back in time... to relive our precious moments! Beautifully crafted :D

    Lots of love,

  3. Unmaking history is summits the best thing we can do to make the most of our time...day to day and maybe further...

  8. WOW!!!
    "I am made of eons and eras,
    My belly had digested all,
    That there is, was, and will be;"
    Yes, I will let you in. I am not afraid, though I am not sure I won't be afraid at points as we pull on the yarn. (BTW, the prompt on second Wednesdays is Sumana's.)

    The Pink Floyd is PERFECT accompaniment! I love it. I am home to rest my bones, but remain faithful ...

  9. I especially like the pulling on that yarn in the closing stanza. Also intriguing is the thought "I move into yesterday, coming out of tomorrow".

  13. Loved your depiction of time, Gilenna. The lines "I am free, freer than a bird,
    Or fish in the sea;
    I move into yesterday,
    Coming out of tomorrow" ring so true for most of us.

  15. The timelessness of the world is well depicted in this poem and the painting. For all our appreciation of beauty and art we are still flawed and continually are at loss to achieve our potential. We can travel to the stars and conquer disease but not feed our children or live in peace for we cannot set ourselves the basic priorities of existence.

  19. Your poem is very calm and inviting, but I sense longing. I feel a poem that only gives off one emotion is lacking, as humans I don't think we ever have just one emotion at a time, and this poem gets that. Very good job.

  20. Dear Gillena,
    Your poem reminded me of a discussion I had with a physicist/chemist friend who assured me that if we imagine or dream it, we have done it. He said time was a human construct to aid in understanding and coping; and all of time, every moment, every experience occurs at once in different pockets, folds, dimensions.
